IT REALLY DO BE THAT DAMN PHONE

ERISTHEPLANET

RISING DMV FEMALE ARTIST:

Nobody else is making music like

@eristheplanet right now.

ErisThePlanet is a once-in-a-generation artist who carries herself with an unforgettable swag that you always wanna come back to. The rising female sensation from D.C. has made a name for herself with her bubbly, care-free energy she carries in her art that she calls "Internet Music."

Originally known for posting DIY fashion tutorials, vlogs, and so much more, she utilized her strong community to propel her rap career, which is now taking the internet by storm. She was an opener at a D.C. show for BKTHERULA, announced a tour with Maryland’s daredevil rockstar, Rico Nasty, was randomly standing in the elevator with Smino, and fans have even caught Drake listening to her viral hit, "GEEZER" on a livestream!

This past summer, she released her debut mixtape under EQT Recordings titled, “IT BE THAT DAMN PHONE,” the name actually coming from when she was cracking jokes with a friend about how often she loses her phone.

“It’s something everybody can relate to,” she says.

“I feel like a lot of our problems in the world usually tend to go back to the phone.”

The 8-track tape with a runtime of 16 minutes alone almost perfectly encapsulates the feeling of 2026. It sounds like you’re riding in an intergalactic limo with ETP as the driver: she’s got her legs crossed, a blunt lit up, and instead of focusing on steering, she’s got her iPhone charging at 12% while kissing someone through the FaceTime.

The tape is filled with so many phone references, too that it feels more fun to keep an ear out for them rather than let it be a hindrance. It all just works.

Adding 4 new tracks (one of them featuring Rico Nasty) complement and add a little flavor to the original 8. In only a few short tracks, it’s mind blowing how quickly ETP has already risen to the top and polished a signature sound while doing so.

The chaotic beat and unpredictable flow switches throughout ERISTHEPLANET’s first song with Rico Nasty, (8 FEET TALL) make it quite possibly the most deserving collaboration of 2026.

Listening to this album feels like hearing The Melodic Blue by Baby Keem for the first time. Especially with that. slowed & reverb beat switch in the second half of MAMA SAY/OK or her auto-tune heavy melodies floating over celestial production throughout songs like FACETIME, EX KEEP CALLING, and even her new songs from the deluxe, BACK SEAT & HUMMER!

She’s confident and isn’t afraid of singing with autotune to extend her vocal capabilities, either (listen to BBY, EX KEEP CALLIN or REWIND)

In plain English, she’s just having fun with it. She’s not afraid to be herself, and her journey this year alone has convinced us that’s got it from here. We just need to sit back and enjoy the ride.
